As a way to glitter in a party or jazz up a dull day, glitter is always a fun make-up solution to keep in mind. Not only can it be brightly coloured, it is also eye-catching and different. What more do you need to stand out? Glitter can sometimes be an intimidating prospect to apply, and sometimes when faced with glitter it can be difficult to know what to do next. Here we aim to help, and offer you some methods and suggestions for wearing your glitter.
• When it comes to wearing glitter eye shadows, it always pays to have applied foundation before you start with the glitter. Once you are ready to start on your eyes, first apply a gel-based eye shadow. This should be a neutral colour such as white or beige; nothing that stands out too much. This eye shadow will act as glue to the glitter.
• Let the gel based eye shadow dry for about a minute. This will ensure that it isn’t too wet or moist when it comes to adding the glitter, which in turn means the glitter will stay where it should do on your eye lids.
• Next, add the glitter eye shadow to your eye where you have applied the gel eye shadow. When it comes to wearing glitter, always cover the lower half of your eyelid. Try as well not to wear glitter in the inner corner of your eye itself, as this runs the risk of irritating your eye. However, extending the glitter towards your inner eye is always a good look, as is covering the whole of your eyelid.
• Try not to wear glitter past the crease of your eyelid and up towards your eyebrows. Less is more in the case of glitter eye shadow.
Glitter eye shadows are great for a show stopping look. If, however, you would prefer to avoid wearing as much glitter, glitter eye liner is a great way to draw a simple line of glitter. Although smaller, this look is still eye-catching and cheerful.
• Before it comes to adding the glitter eye shadow, make sure that you have applied your eye shadow. Keep this as a powder eye shadow to prevent any smearing of the eye liner. Also use a dark eye liner pencil to act as a base to your glitter eye liner. Liquid eye liner can get smeared when you apply the glitter eye liner, so pencil in this case is usually preferable.
• When you apply the glitter eye liner, apply it in exactly the same way that you would liquid eyeliner. Draw a single line along your eyelash line, either in one fluid motion or by joining up several dashes into one line. A flick at the end will maximise the effect of the glitter.
• As with the glitter eye shadow, try not to use the eye liner at the inner corner of your eye. This only runs the risk of getting glitter into your eye.
