Asthma Attack – Common Signs and Symptoms

There are some diseases and disorders that you have to know in advance because if you don’t know about them ahead of time, then it would become difficult dealing with them in the future. Asthma attack is one of such things that you have to be aware of ahead of time because if you don’t know what the signs are like and what symptoms might affect you, you would end up being hospitalized within a matter of minutes. Asthma is a chronic malfunction that attacks a person through the respiratory system and its associated links from time to time. If you have information about it, you can take necessary measures to prevent it from taking over your normal physiological condition.

Asthma attack occurs because of the narrowing of the airway in our respiratory system which is known as trachea. Either the cartilages and muscles surrounding the airway gets tighten, swelled up or the mucous secreted from the lining of the epithelium starts functioning improperly. Coughing, chest tightness, breathing difficulty, feelings of anxiety, profuse sweating occurs. Sometimes, a rapid pulse rate, high blood pressure and blue coloration of lips and skin is also observed.

Although asthma attack could be really sudden and transient but most of the time, there are some warning signs, you can experience before the actual attack takes place. However, these signs could be different from a person to person; secondly the intensity of these signs could vary from individual to individual as well.

The very distinguishing symptom of the asthma attack would be shortness of breathe. The reason behind the shortness or breathing could be unexplained and irrelevant, gradual coughing with the breathing routine would be noticeable as well. The person suffering from an asthma attack would start coughing on general basis and it would continue until the severe form occurs, the mouth would get dry and itchy throat might be felt with the course of time. A sudden tightness in the chest is a common observation as well. Anxiety, irritability and overreaction to things are some other signs and symptoms of asthma attack as well. Feeling of getting tired, lethargic and fatigue are some other common signs and symptoms of asthma attack as well.

So, above mentioned was a brief overview to what asthma attack really is and what are some common signs and symptoms which an individual can experience at the time of suffering through asthma attack.
