Bacon slices: 8
Romaine lettuce, leaves separated and torn into bite-size pieces: 1 head
Watercress lettuce (stems removed and chopped): 2 cups
Cooked chicken or turkey (diced): 4 cups
Avocados (peeled and diced): 2
Tomatoes (chopped): 2
Roquefort cheese (crumbled): ¼ pound, extra 1 ounce
Red wine vinegar: ¼ cup
Worcestershire sauce: 1 tsp
Dijon mustard: ½ tsp
Garlic (minced): 1 clove
Coarse salt: ¼ tsp
Black pepper (coarsely ground): ½ tsp
Olive oil (extra-virgin): 1/3 cup
Long chive lengths for garnish
To make this cobb salad, take eggs and dice them in the size of half inch. Take a large frying pan and fry the bacons on medium heat for about ten minutes until they are crisp. Dab the extra oil off the bacon and keep it aside to cool. Once the bacon slices are cool then crumble them into small pieces.
Now take a platter and make a layer of the Romaine lettuce, you can also have the dish made separately on individual serving plates. Now place the ingredients one by one on the lettuce leaves neatly and in a row.
Take a small bowl and blend the Worcestershire sauce, wine vinegar, garlic, mustard and salt and pepper well. Take a fork and mash the 1-ounce Roquefort cheese in this mix. Make a thick paste and while mixing slowly add the olive oil, which will help you make a thick dressing.
Now take the platter or the individual serving plates where you have already made layers of the other ingredients and pour the dressing on it neatly. Garnish with the chive lengths and the salad is ready to serve. You can have the remaining portion of the salad dressing on the table in case people need more of it.
