How to Make Mandarin Orange Salad

Mandarin orange salad is one of the finest fruit salad recipes that you can serve. The preparation time for this salad is not more than 10 minutes and if you are quick you can even whisk it up in five minutes. The mandarin orange salad can be made in different ways or you can also give it a special touch with your cooking and garnishing skills. Here are some of the ways in which you can prepare mandarin orange salad.

Recipe 1: Ingredients:

Salad greens (bibb lettuce, leaf, spinach): 3-4 cups

Sliced onions: ¼ cup

Mandarin oranges, drained: 1 (11 oz.) can

Butter toasted slivered almonds: ¼ cup

Vegetable oil: ¼ cup

Vinegar: 2 tbsp

Sugar: 2 tbsp

Salt: ½ tsp

Pepper: ¼ tsp


Take the onions, greens, almonds and the mandarin oranges and mix them together. Now for the dressing, mix the vegetable oil, salt and pepper, sugar and the vinegar. Keep the dressing in the refrigerator for chilling for approximately 2 hours. Toss up the dressing with the salad when it is ready to serve.

Recipe 2: Ingredients:

Lettuce (cut in pieces): ½ head

Celery (medium size): 2 stalks

Green onions: 2

Mandarin orange (drained slice): 1 can

Almonds (sliced): ¼ cup

Sugar: 1 tbsp and 1 tsp


Take some water in a pan enough to make thick sugar syrup. Add sugar in the pan and heat until it melts and add the almonds. Cook until the almonds are coated with sugar and keep aside. Now take the lettuce, celery, onions and oranges in a bowl and mix well. Keep this aside and prepare the salad dressing.

For the salad dressing you’ll need:

Oil: ¼ cup

Sugar: ¼ cup

Vinegar: 2 tbsp

Snipped parsley: 1 tbsp

Salt: ½ tsp




Mix all the ingredients of the salad dressing and mix it with the above mandarin lettuce mixture. Toss well and add the sugar coated almonds just before you are ready to serve the salad.

Recipe 3: Ingredients:

Lettuce (two types: Iceberg and romaine)

Mandarin oranges: 1 can

Purple onions

Silvered almonds



Cut the lettuce into bite size pieces and thinly slice the onions. Mix it with the almonds and the croutons and keep it aside.

Now prepare the salad dressing. For this you’ll need:

Oil: 1 cup

Onion (chopped): ¼ cup

Sugar: ½ cup

Dry mustard: 1 tsp

Celery seed: 1 tsp

Cider vinegar: 1/3 cup

Salt: 1 tsp


Mix all the ingredients together and make a fine paste. Keep it in the refrigerator. When it is ready to serve, place the salad mix on the platter, arrange the mandarin oranges neatly and pour the salad dressing all over it and serve.

Making the mandarin orange salad is easy and does not take much time if you have the ingredients at home. The salad not only serves as a healthy food but also can be placed as dessert.
